Root Beer Schnapps?!

Happy Canada Day! This post has nothing to do with Canada's birthday unless you count the lumber jack in the picture as a reference to those pioneering foresters who helped build our country.

A while ago podcasting buddy Marina and I were out for a bite to eat and I spotted this display in the liquor store window next to the restaurant.

Root Beer and Butter Ripple Schnapps

Root Beer and Butter Ripple Schnapps! And "naturally flavoured" to boot. It was so wrong I had to get a picture and share.

Perhaps the Jagerminz S'mores schnapps featured in the South Park episode The Red Badge of Gayness1 isn't so far from reality as I thought!

[1] To win a bet Cartman leads the townsfolk, who are drunk on s'mores schnapps after reenacting the American civil war, in a new civil war where the South wins.

Rob Paravonian's Pachelbel Rant

The patterns in music are, to quote Mr. Spock, fascinating. I love hearing how simple patterns like chord progressions and rhythms can be applied so diversely and with such different effect. My fascination was once again tweaked when I came across this YouTube video in a blog post (I wish I could find again to give credit to). Bonus, it's also funny as hell!

The accursed song mentioned in the video, Pachelbel's Canon, is one I had never know the name of. I've spend the better part of the last hour exploring the song variations on YouTube. Curse you Related Videos block! My favorite variation is this rock guitar version: http://youtube.com/watch?v=QjA5faZF1A8

The video page on Paravonian's website is worth a look, too.

Are You Prepared? - Zombies in Plain English

The folks at Common Craft are at it again, this time telling you how to have a safe Halloween, even if there's a zombie attack!

Snowball the Cockatoo

This is too fun not to post!

What does a cockatoo named Snowball and the Backstreet Boys have in common, follow this link to the video or click on the picture to find out.

I'm not giving too much away when I say it's better than Hamster Dance!

Could the Trojan horse trick work again?

Doesn't prove a damn thing but it's a lot of fun.

It's from an Australian show called The Chaser. They have a bunch of other videos on YouTube you might enjoy, like Airport Security - The Chaser. Can you imagine something like that at an American airport?

It's a shame we couldn't import it to Canada. I can think of five different programs on each network I'd gladly trade.

Muppet Nostalgia

Saw this in the Infocult: Information, Culture, Policy, Education post C is for Computer and just had to pass it along. This clip is apparently pre-Muppets but classic Jim Henson/Frank Oz.

Jim Henson left this world far too soon, but a what an awesome legacy he left behind!
