Writers Take Note

I've been really quite remiss on this subject, and meaning to blog about this for the last month. Without further procrastination:

SiWCThe Surrey International Writers' Conference is coming!

Check out www.siwc.ca. Don't wait to long, it usually sells out.

If you're a writer and are interesting in improving your writing craft and/or trying to sell your manuscript, this is the conference for you. The instructors are people working in the field and have a depth of experience you don't often get to draw from. There's also pitch sessions with honest to god real agents and editors you can sign up for.

If that isn't enough, you're surrounded by people who love writing and are phenomenally supportive of writers. While the cost isn't chump change, it's not expensive for a 3 day shindig and it's good value for dollar. The people who fly in from the US and Europe can back me up on that.

In the interest of full disclosure, I'll mention that I'm the webmaster this year. I was a regular attendee before, though, with my first conference in the mid nineties. Guess I grew on them.

Northern Voice

Do you blog? Have you thought about blogging? Have you wondered what podcasting is all about or been interested in trying it?

If you've answered yes to any of the these questions check out Northern Voice.

Northern Voice is a one-day, non-profit community blogging conference being held at the UBC downtown campus on February 19, 2005. The awesome news, it only cost $20 to attend!!! This is a full day event with a first class lineup of speakers and it costs less than seeing two movies. If you're the least bit interested, this is a no-brainer.
